The United States Department of Transportation (DOT) earned an “A+” rating from the federal government’s Small Business Procurement Scorecard. It was one of only three department to earn such a rating. Surprisingly, to me, this is the seventh consecutive year the department has earned this rating.
However, the DOT and its subsidiary department, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), continue to make rules and or recommend that congress pass laws that are very much pro big business and anti-small business; these rules/laws are making the barriers to entry higher which in turn scares competition away from the market.
If DOT Secretary Anthony Foxx really believes his own title, “When Small Businesses Succeed, So Does America,” then he need to make sure his organization doesn’t limit competition and scare away would-be participants.
