On October 30, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) will announce that Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) will be mandatory for commercial motor vehicles for the logging Hours of Service (driving time) and driver vehicle inspection report information. Teletrac (the company to whom I link this report) is advertising the benefits, which are legitimate. The question is, will ease of recording and ease of reading the data result in safer roads or just more expensive loads?
